What do think of the Rav4? Which trim would you get?

TheStraightPipes after sitting in one at the Canadian International Auto Show.... there is no way I would buy one unless it was the only vehicle I could get. Not comfortable for me at all. Yakub I have no idea how at 6’1 you’re comfortable in that front seat, I actually felt kinda cramped in there... and I’m only 6’. 😣

@Jonathan Atamaniuk not sure where you are getting your mpg from. Rav4 and CRV are almost identical. I have a 2013 Rav4 and I have 2 friends with a newer Rogue, and I get better mpg than them both. If think Toyota and Honda are both very reliable. I can't say that for the Rogue since my friends have had reliability issues. Something wrong with the Nissan cvt. It's still all personal preference. I'm not a brand snob. I'll drive anything if I like it. But when they are close, it's gonna be a Toyota or a Honda, and maybe a Nissan or Subaru, or even a Hyundai. Not even gonna try the Ford and Chevy.

Al Heiman they’re all pretty much personal choice now. I love the Rogue because I currently drive an Altima and the Rogue is extremely familiar for me. I love the CR-V because I know how insanely reliable they are. And both of them are exceptionally roomy inside. Seriously they’re the ideal SUVs for a family of four. The RAV4, I get why people love them but for me the fuel economy is also far lower than the Rogue or the CR-V and I just can’t get comfortable inside. Absolutely a hybrid fixes one of those issues, but for me personally I just am more drawn to the other two long before the RAV4. Change that to a Highlander vs their Nissan and Honda challengers and for me it’s the same thing again. Push up to a Sequoia... well then I change my mind almost entirely lol.

@Christophe Joseph I am 6'4" and I had about 4" of extra space above my head with seat raised about half way up. I had the power seat through.

Ummmm excuse me. In the competition, the Hyundai equivalent of RAV-4 would be Tucson actually, not Santa Fe. Are you sure you wanna take Tucson over Santa Fe?

I really respect Japanese cars... back in the days I used to only drive them. There is only one problem with them. Even though they are reliable, they just don't have this thing... this quality of materials, that solid feel while driving it. Once I switched to the Germans I just can look back. Even Lexus top end products just can't touch the German quality of materials... Of course I'm having various headaches regarding German shitty reliability, but I'm aware of this. I accept it. Why can't a rav4 be like an Audi q5 in terms of design and interior quality... I'd lay extra 20gs to have a reliable and premium feel Japanese car. Looked into RX350 f sport recently and it's pathetic. Pathetic awd system that doesn't pass any roller test and the interior is just ok. Sat in a new q7 and x5.... Dear Lord. Completely different car. A lot better to the eye and touch.

I KNOW that beauty is in the eye... but how the scary fk can you guys think that this is good looking? The front of it looks like someone forced a softened chocolate bar into some coastal defences and spray-painted the result. And square wheel arches. I mean, square wheel arches. Square. Wheel. Arches. I never thought I'd see a car that didn't suit round wheels.

Word it really does look like a baby 4Runner. Spot on. And I hate getting into that front passenger seat. I always have to tilt my head awkwardly just to get in that side.

The biggest mistake Toyota did was cutting out the V6 model. I guess you can blame the customer base being too cheap and being too fuel economy minded (The V6 never burnt much more fuel than the 4 banger). With this power plant and having the vehicle loaded up with passengers and the AC on it struggles in passing situations. In this day and age where power is so cheap to get on a vehicle I ask this question; Why is it so underpowered?

WARNING ABOUT HYBRID RAV4 I purchased a 2020 and when i bought it at the dealership it said 580 on the trip tell empty. Then i went to fill up and i could get the gas nozzle to lock onto my tank i had to hold it away ( about 1 inch ) away from the tank then after the fill up it said 560. Went to a Arco and the nozzle locked on it filled up and cost $10 less!!! (Problem alert) the trip range said 509! I reported it to Toyota Corporate and the rep told me they have a prototype fix (new tank sensor) that seems to be working. Im hoping my car qualifies for it. Ill keep you updated.

That was the first thing I noticed, horrible head room in the passenger seat, and I'm not really tall at 5'11". Any taller and you really can't sit there unless you recline the seat a fair amount. I also don't like the transmission, shifts way too frequently, especially at lower speeds. Otherwise, pretty happy so far.

We got a new LE (FWD only) this Summer. It is the lightest RAV4 with no moonroof and no rear driveline components. As long as you're willing to wring out the engine, it is quick enough in manual shift mode. Love the looks and it is a great on gas too...my wife loves that part. We got out of a 2008 V6 RAV4...this falls short, but that's to be expected. We are looking forward to the RAV4 Prime next year. And yes, I have done full throttle on all my cars....none of which were burnouts.
